At North American Martyrs School, our Junior High Youth Ministry exists to help 7th and 8th grade students encounter Jesus Christ, grow as His disciples, and courageously share the Gospel with others.

Inspired by Acts 2:42, the mission is to help form young disciples who are rooted in Scripture, nourished by prayer and the sacraments, and are connected to a Catholic community within the school and other parishes in Lincoln. The Gospel is not simply a message to hear—it is Good News meant to be received into our hearts, lived out in our daily lives, and shared with the world.

7^th and 8^th graders have the opportunity to learn how to live out the Gospel and Acts 2:42 through Lunch n Lectio. Lunch n Lectio is held during students' lunch recess time and during this time, students pray with Scripture through Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina is an ancient Catholic practice of listening to God's Word, reflecting on it personally, speaking with the Lord in prayer, and resting in His presence. This dedicated time helps students develop a personal relationship with Jesus and learn how to hear His voice in their everyday lives.

Connecting with the other parishes in Lincoln also helps the students see that the Catholic Community is striving to share and live out the Gospel message outside the school walls of NAM. Once a month, NAM collaborates through the Lincoln Youth Ministry Program (LNKYM), and hosts events with other Lincoln Parishes. Attending these events show students that there are kids their age at other parishes who have the desire to live out their faith too.

Through prayer, fellowship, Scripture, and opportunities for faith-filled conversation, our Junior High Youth Ministry seeks to equip students to know Christ, love Christ, and make Him known.
