Dear North American Martyrs Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year. I am beyond excited and blessed to begin my fourth year as your Martyrs' principal. I am looking forward to another amazing year watching your children grow intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually. Our school community seeks to work in partnership with parents to help students reach their full potential with the specific and unique gifts God has given to each child.

Please note: This email contains essential back-to-school updates, calendar dates, and required forms for the upcoming semester.

Martyrs in Action: Letting our light shine and glowing for God all the time!

This year, our school theme is Let Your Light Shine. We will focus on how Jesus calls His followers to be the light of the world by living virtuously. Jesus tells His disciples and those who joined to listen, "Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father" (Matthew 5:16). Live Virtuously, Shine Brightly!

Our call and response will be:

Leader: Let your light shine!

Students: Glow for God all the time!

Martyrs in Sweatpants: Comfy Clothes for a Great Cause!

Each year, our staff and students adopt a mission to support. For the 2026–2027 school year, all proceeds will go to Mater Filius, a wonderful organization right here in our community. Home - Mater Filius Lincoln

Up until this year, students were allowed and encouraged to wear jeans on early release days, and those funds would go toward our mission. With times changing, we asked ourselves if jeans still serve as a strong incentive to dress out of uniform, and we realized they do not. Therefore, for this upcoming school year, we have opted to permit students to wear sweatpants. The goal and intention behind this change is to support a mission while educating students about Mater Filius and giving them a fun incentive. Martyrs on a mission!

Sweatpant Days will officially replace Jean Days going forward. Students are permitted to wear sweatpants on scheduled 1:00 p.m. early dismissal days by bringing a $1.00 donation to their classroom teacher. Please refer to the school calendar for all designated 1:00 p.m. early release dates. As a reminder, this is a privilege. Sweatpants must be loose-fitting and in good condition, free of any tears, stains, or holes. Pajama bottoms, or any bottoms that look like pajama bottoms, are strictly prohibited. If students do not follow the handbook guidelines, we may decide to revert to jeans only.

Annual Open House

Join us on Monday, August 17, at 5:30 p.m. for our Open House! We will kick things off in the church at 5:30 p.m. with a welcome and introductions of our teachers and PTO. Afterward, families are invited to drop off school supplies in the classrooms and grab some ice cream in the courtyard.

School Supply Lists & Homeroom

The 2026-2027 school supply lists are attached to this email. Please check PowerSchool for your child's homeroom teacher. Finding out which teacher you have and which friends will be in your class is always exciting for a child. Class lists are crafted through several lenses to ensure every child is placed in a balanced, supportive environment. We consider academic needs, social dynamics, and learning styles to create the best possible group for every student. We appreciate your trust and partner with you to make this a wonderful, successful school year.

School Uniform Update

Lands' End is our official plaid supplier (our school code is 900106865). Please note that we have added a girls' skirt to our approved uniform inventory. If your daughter plans to wear the new skirt (grades 6-8 only), we highly encourage her to also wear shorts underneath for modesty and comfort on the playground.

First Day of School

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 18. Please note the following details for our first day:

  • It will be a noon dismissal.

  • Before-school care will be available.

  • There will be no lunch served and no after-school extended care.

Preschool & Kindergarten Required Documents

Please ensure the school office has all required documentation prior to the first day of school:

  • Birth Certificate: Required for both Preschool and Kindergarten

  • Baptism Certificate: Required for Kindergarten

  • Physical & Immunization Records: Required for Kindergarten

7th Grade Required Documents

The State of Nebraska requires all students entering 7th grade to have a school physical and updated immunizations prior to the first day of school. Please submit these documents to the office before classes begin. (Note: If your child plans to play sports in 7th grade, this physical satisfies that requirement as well).

Tuition & Payment Plans

On Wednesday, July 8, tuition invitations to set up payment plans were sent via email directly from FACTS. Please make sure to check your junk/spam folder so you don't miss it! All payment plans must be finalized by Monday, August 31. If you did not receive your email, please reach out to Kari Price at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Allergy/Asthma Action Plans

Parents of students who use inhalers must submit an allergy/asthma action plan each year. This allows the student to keep an inhaler in their bookbag, desk, or locker, or secure it in the front office. Even if the plan hasn't changed, a care provider must sign the form. Forms are available in the school office or from your care provider.

Medical Forms on PowerSchool

If you haven't done so already, please complete the forms on PowerSchool authorizing the school to dispense over-the-counter (OTC) medications to your student(s). Note a change in the OTC policy: Parents are no longer expected to provide over-the-counter medications, as the school will now provide them.

Prescription Medications

Students taking prescription medications during the school day must have a parental consent form on file in the office. All prescriptions are secured in the Central Office according to state regulations.

Lunch Accounts

Now would be a good time to check your student's lunch account and add funds if needed. Just log on to MySchoolBucks.com. Feel free to drop off checks or cash in the school office or during the Open House to avoid convenience fees.

New School Website

We are excited to share our brand-new school website! We hope this updated format makes it easier to find the information you need. North American Martyrs Catholic School | Lincoln, NE
